Human Resources Specialist

General Description
The HR Specialist will be responsible for assisting the HR Director and Assistant Director in the administration of human resources policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, implementing, and coordinating HR functions with management staff and employees.
Work Schedule
- Requires morning, afternoon and evenings. Monday through Friday.
- Request to be scheduled off for a specific day requires advance notification and approval.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Accepts all applications & monitors application flow and works with applicants and department supervisors in accordance to Equal Employment Opportunity hiring policy with tribal preference.
- Accepts and coordinates gaming license application flow to include new/renewal process in accordance to C&A Gaming Commission standards.
- Prepares, recommends, and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data.
- Maintains permanent personnel records in coordination with HR File Clerk.
- Coordinate orientation programs to include preparation and facilitation.
- Coordinate job posting process to include postings, interviews, and file management.
- Monitors performance appraisal program.
- Must exhibit STAR treatment to all customers and co-workers.
- Assists with the administration and compliance of employee benefits programs such as medical, dental, vision, short/long term disability, life, voluntary and 401k.
- Maintains benefits records.
- Assists with annual open enrollment
- Assists in quarterly 401k enrollment.
- Prepare benefit enrollment packages for distribution.
- Assist employees with benefit related questions and issues.
- Responsible for the transmission of payroll related items to the Payroll Dept.
- Maintains and files all I-9s for proper record keeping.
- Administers Drug Test Specimen Collection for potential employees and assist in Random Drug Test Specimen collection.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Job Requirements
- Sit and/or stand continuously and perform job functions for a full shift with lunch break.
- Requires bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, lifting and pulling.
- Move objects up to and exceeding 25lbs. with reasonable accommodations.
- Office environment
Qualification Standards
- Must pass pre-employment drug test
- Minimum five years HR related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- MS Office Tools experience; knowledge of computer systems and/or communications systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must maintain valid Cheyenne and Arapaho Gaming License
