General Description
The Sales & Catering Manager is under the direct supervision of the General Manager, targets and coordinates the sales efforts through the development, implementation, and management of the sales and marketing strategy for the hotel portion of the complex. Responsible for revenue and sales goal achievements, sales and marketing strategies are set in place to achieve company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the duties and responsibilities below:
- Manage day-to-day activities of sales, plan, organize, and assign work, develop and communicate strategies and goals.
- Achieve budgeted revenues and sales goals, and maximize profitability within all areas of responsibility.
- Participate in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget, hotel marketing plan, business plan, and financial plans which support the overall objectives of the hotel.
- Produce weekly, and monthly reports and sales forecasts.
- Create and implement hotel-level sales plans that drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, increase business volume during off-peak periods, increase local food, beverage and banquet sales, and enhance the image of the hotel in the local community.
- Monitor sales activities and performance to ensure actual sales meet or exceed established revenue plan.
- Analyze current and potential market and sales trends and coordinate all activities to maintain and increase revenue and market share through added business.
- Identify operational problems that impact the effectiveness of marketing activities and the overall hotel sales ,and work with appropriate department heads on solutions.
- Schedule conventions and/or business group activities at the hotel and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups and companies, and attend conventions and trade shows (where appropriate), to promote new business and increase sales for the hotel.
- Serve as hotel representative for media related inquiries and refer sensitive matters to corporate if necessary.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Network and maintain communication with outside contacts.
- Interact with guests to guarantee total satisfaction.
- Network with crew, wholesalers, corporate accounts, travel agencies, ad agencies within local, domestic and international markets to ensure repeat business,
- Follow up on events and generate new business.
- Communication skills, mathematical skills, problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities are used often.
- Coordinate and assist in the production of special events in banquets.

Physical Job Requirements
- Must be able to move objects up to and exceeding 25lbs.
- Frequent bending, turning, kneeling, and stooping
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures and fumes.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
Qualification Standards
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or equivalent experience, and/or 2 years total experience in a hospitality, hotel sales and marketing setting or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Direct supervisory experience over a sales team.
- Must speak fluent English.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
- Must maintain valid Cheyenne and Arapaho Gaming License.
- Efficient in computers and math
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
