General Description
Banquet Captain is responsible for support to the sales and catering manager in all aspects of Lucky Star catered events. The Banquet Captain will be responsible for overseeing set up, tear down, clean up and execution of all meeting, food and beverage requirements. When banquets are not active the Banquet Captain will assist the Sales & Catering Manager in detailing groups, writing contracts, creating banquet event orders, as well as all other administrative duties required of the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the detailing of group business with catering/banquet events.
- Assist sales & catering manager in achieving budgeted revenues and maximize profitability within all areas of responsibility.
- Identify operational problems that impact the effectiveness of marketing activities and overall sales performance and work with appropriate department heads on solutions.
- Schedule conventions and/or business group activities and coordinate with other hotel-level departments to facilitate services agreed upon by the sales office and prospective clients.
- Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.
- Interact with guests to guarantee their total satisfaction.
- Hiring and training of all banquet staff (servers, bartenders and housemen).
- Maintaining inventory and organization of all banquet wares, equipment and AV.
- Maintaining a high level of customer service in all banqueting events.
- Consistent Convention Center walk throughs to ensure the physical product is kept in pristine condition.
- Motivate a service team in the execution of all activities of banquets.
- Work closely with banquet kitchen team in the execution of all banquet events.
- Must exhibit STAR treatment to all customers and co-workers.
- Maintain a proficient knowledge of all policies and procedures.
- All other duties as assigned.

Physical Job Requirements
- Must be able to move objects up to and exceeding 25lbs.
- Frequent bending, turning, kneeling, and stooping.
- Exposure to hot and cold temperatures and fumes.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Qualification Standards:
- 2 years’ experience in a sales and catering, hospitality, sales and marketing setting; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must speak fluent English.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
- Must qualify and maintain a Cheyenne and Arapaho Gaming License/Permit.
- Efficient in computers and math.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must be able to possess problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities.
